WHO WE ARE
The Society of Military Otolaryngologists (SMO) is 501c3 non-profit organization with international military & civilian members including doctors, residents, nurses, audiologists, speech therapists, & technicians.
SMO started as a small group of military physicians, brought together in 1952, as a ways to maintain camaraderie and share best practices with fellow Otolaryngologists.
Since then we have grown to a national level with some members internationally. SMO proudly includes all constituents associated with our profession: doctors, residents, nurses, audiologists, speech therapists, and technicians.
SMO is a membership society with an annual meeting. We are administered by a board of directors. The officers are elected from our membership that serve a four-year term. SMO also has a member appointed to the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation that acts as our liaison in keeping us abreast of changes within our field.
